What xwork is isn't clearly defined yet. What there is is some sandbox code for 
testing new ideas and playing around. I think the following is correct though...

- xwork is touted as a 'next generation of webwork', so it's not a new version 
per se. It certainly will not be backward compatible from what I can tell

- It will not implement any JSR (such as the portlet one). At least, that's the 
current agreement.

If you want something stable that for real use, I'd strongly suggest you go 
with webwork 1.3 RC1 (or current CVS). xwork will be changing far too radically 
to use currently.
