i also attached an example that demonstrates when its happening (when a property called from a sitemesh decorator is called and that property calls ActionContext.getContext().getSession()
even ServletActionContext.getRequest() is returning null in the same situation.

I am having problems using the ActionContext.getContext().getSession(). This call always returns null though the ActionContext itself is not null. Using SessionAware also gave me null on the session.
Somebody knows what I'm doing wrong or what the problem is?
