The only filters used are for the IoC container, to set up the request scoped container. If you're not using Xwork IoC, you should be ok as far as Filters go. I'm not sure about the rest of the differences between Servlet 2.3 / 2.2 and JSP 1.2 / 1.1, though.

I don't know the internals of webwork 2, and whether servlet filters are required for its operation. You are better to ask on this list.
