Hi again,

I received the latest linux printer driver disc from the vendor, for Canon
ImageRunner IRC 3220i, IRC 3580i and IRC 5185i model office printer/copiers.

The following are the files within;

Linux(CAPT)_PS_v.1.70.zip
  Driver
    Debian
      cndrvcups-capt_1.70-1_i386.deb
      cndrvcups-common_1.70-1_i386.deb

Linux(UFRII)_v1.70.zip
   Debian
     cndrvcups-COMMON-1.70-1_I386.deb
     cndrvcups-UFR2_uk_1.70-1_I386.deb

The first newbie question would be which one i should be installing (the
printers we have are network printers).

The second question will be how can i embed these new printers to the OTCM
and OS, so that we can deploy the thinclients with the associated printer
configuration (i.e. selecting particular model under printers)?

I have attempted to boot one thinclient with kernel parameters
union=/etc:/usr:/var
then download and install the .deb files inside the UFRII zip file
There are two files, one with COMMON and the other with UFR2_uk tag, not
sure if both were needed, so;

dpkg -i cndrvcups-COMMON-1.70-1_I386.deb
dpkg -i cndrvcups-UFR2_uk_1.70-1_I386.deb

Then observed the files copied under usr/share/..

When i restart or login from another thinclient, the drivers were no carried
(revealed with a quick check on usr/share/.. folders). Assuming what i have
done earlier was happening in ramdisk and gone when the thinclient rebooted?

I am still a bit lost on which part is running from ramdisk and what are we
able to embed (as in for all thinclient images) if we are to load the kernel
writeable then drop some files into filesystem and restart...

Anyone can shed some light ?

All the best!
