The problem sounds like it's with your windows XP, not with OTC. "Cannot find the server" means you have the wrong address for the XP machine. If you're environment is a Windows Domain, try using the FQDN (ex xpcomputer.example.local instead of just xpcomputer). If that doesn't work try using the IP of the machine instead of the name.
A "connection refused" error could be many things all of which are Windows related. First, make sure Remote Desktop is enabled on the XP machine (Only XP Professional support remote desktop): Start > Settings > Control Panel > System > Remote tab > Enable Remote Desktop on this computer > OK You can only log onto a Windows XP Pro computer in the following circumstances: 1) Your user account is an administrator account (domain and/or local) 2) The account you're using is already logged onto the computer. This would be like if you logged into the computer directly at your desk, left it logged on and then RDP'd into it later with that same user account. 3) The user is part of the LOCAL "Remote Desktop Users" group (Start > Settings > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management > expand Local Users and Groups > Groups > add your user to Remote Desktop Users (must be local or domain admin to do this)). Hope that helps! JoeTrevino wrote: > > I am trying to configure rdesktop for a windows xp session.
