Hello All,

since my problems with xnest and numpad using firefox and thunderbird on
a remote server
(http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg00497.html)
may not be fixed in the near future I found an alternate solution using
the remote applications with numpad being functional. I've configured
vnc-xdmcp access on the remote server now being able to get a signon via
'vncviewer <remotehostname>:<screenid>'. Since vncviewer is already
included on the tcos-client all I need is a starter configuration to
start the application on the thinclient. It should be possible to
configure the parameters "remotehostname" and "screenid" (both entries
being computable would be preferred, for example by entering '$(echo
$HOSTNAME|tr [:upper:] [:lower:]|cut -c3-5)' in field "remotehostname"
and '$(($(ifconfig|grep " inet Adresse:192."|cut -f 4 -d"."|cut -f1 -d"
") % 99 + 1))' in field "screenid"). Like xnest it should be possible to
configure 'Autostart', 'ExitAction' and 'Fullscreen'.

What do I need to create such a configuration in the manager
application. Is it enough to copy and edit xnest.xml from
root/schema/application or do I need to install a complete developer
environment and build a custom package?

Any suggestions appreciated.

Oliver Kaltenecker
