Hello,

My company manufactures a couple of systems using ISA based data acquisition
cards. As many are no doubt aware, the availability of PC's with ISA
interfaces is not good. Anyway, our short term solution involves using HP
desktop PC's and an expansion card that connects to the motherboard and
gives two ISA slots. The only thing on the card (apart from the connectors)
is a PC87200 PCI to ISA bridge. Anyway, to my question:

Has anybody out there taken an existing ISA design, and converted to PCI
painlessly (i.e. without fundamental software/driver changes). I ask because
the HP (and another solution from Dell) extension appears to just plug into
the PCI bus, and give working ISA slots even from DOS (not a Windows
driver). I've investigated a few PCI-ISA solutions, but none give us what we
want. The main limitation is our requirement for two DMA channels.

So, any information on the experiences of others would be very interesting.

Thanks for your time.

Steve.
