If you'd rather use binaries than compile it yourself, RPM binaries are
available for 11.2 at the OpenSuSE OpenBuild Service. I use those and know
that they work:

http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/security:/openvas:/

The OpenVAS virtual appliance I am building is based on OpenSuSE 11.2, in
fact:

I generally check the openbuild service whenever I missing any dependencies
in SuSEland.
