Hi jow

I just upgraded to latest trunk 29871 and discovered that the iwinfo
improvements introduced in 29421 which display hardware name, and txpower
offset apparently still only apply to the atheros platform if the outdated
madwifi driver is used. If using ath5k the standard wireless driver for
atheros platform the Hardware name is still not determined.

All I get is this:

# iwinfo wlan0 info

wlan0 ESSID: "MyNetwork"

          Access Point: 00:15:6D:DA:E1:A0

Mode: Master Channel: 3 (2.422 GHz)

          Tx-Power: 27 dBm Link Quality: 0/70

          Signal: unknown Noise: -109 dBm

          Bit Rate: unknown

          Encryption: none

          Type: nl80211 HW Mode(s): 802.11bg

          Hardware: unknown [Generic MAC80211]

          TX power offset: unknown

          Frequency offset: unknown

          Supports VAPs: yes

Of course this is disappointing. Is there really nothing that can be done?

I raised this in an email before, but had hoped this improvement had solved
the issue - apparently not.

After all it is the same kernel version, the same bootloader (which is aware
which Ubnt device is running on, on the different Ubnt devices).

All that is different is the wireless driver. Madwifi was able to determine
the hardware very reliably; I cannot understand why this is so hard for the
ath5k platform.

If someone could update the iwinfo code to reflect qth5k vendor and device
detection, I am happy to do the testing; I have a number of Ubnt devices,
Fon+ and Fon2, a Dir 300A1 and an Engenius device to test with.
