Hi all,

I have a client that is carrying around some patches again image
Makefile because of custom mtd layouts. Basically they have an
extra mtd partition (stealing from rootfs) for data that is
persistent across firstboot.

My request for discussion, is to see what kinds of things would
be reasonable to do so that these partitions could exist, but
without keeping patches that are not in openwrt (obviously the
answer isn't to just make the normal device (e.g. dir825) have
the partition, but I'm not sure of the best generic way to have
this happen.

Since this client has a router and ap that I will be adding support
for, and a profile section, I am thinking that maybe just adding
definitions for those devices that have a different name, but generate
the same image, except for the mtd_layout (kind of the the Trendnet TEW-
whatever that is a DIR825 in almost all but name). What do you think?

Regards,

Daniel
