Hi,
I'm using a script like that on PirateBoxScripts to store the time on
the USB stick in a five minute intervall.
 See:
https://github.com/PirateBox-Dev/PirateBoxScripts_Webserver/blob/release-1.0/piratebox/piratebox/bin/timesave.sh
 (only one part)

The reason for doing this is that forum-software like kareha
(imageboard alike) need a linear "timeline". If you don't have a
normal time, new post will be mixed up with old ones.

In a case, where you can't get to a ntp server, like on offline-usage
on PirateBox, you need a small work-around to get an idea of a working
time.
True, the time is not correct, but in situations of a small downtime,
like a reboot, you only have the time difference of the last save
intervall. In the case of 30days, well it is not that useful like 5
Minutes, but the time-gap depends on the specific setup (and how much
stress you want to put to the storage medium).

Just, my idea of and why bringing that kind of feature into OpenWRT.

best wishes
Matthias

But, any "write-it-to-disc" solution should be optional and is in no
situation ideal.
