Have not thought to try and apply that patch to current trunk source;
especially given that the playing field has changed quite a lot. I do
believe things are different this time as when we used that patch to get
an image to retain settings, before applying the patch the stock trunk
would lose all settings except for the password you'd set. This time it
appears that even the root password is not kept.
Also FYI I'm now trying a newer config file in recent days to eliminate
any old/legacy config issues...however this does not appear to have
resolved the issue either.
