#17069: Lantiq Wifi Eeprom bug on reading mac address

Version r40948 introduced a new way to read mac address with this patch:
0010-MIPS-lantiq-wifi-and-ethernet-eeprom-handling.patch
This is somehow not working and wifi is not working on at least 2 routers
(TPLINK TDW8970 and NETGEAR DGN3500). Mac address is all 00s.
Please fix.
