I'm not sure whether you got any further with your investigation of this,
but I just ran into the same problem on the rb750. It's very easy to
reproduce - simply create a file, delete it, and reboot. The space
occupied by the file is lost.
It seems to be something to do with yaffs and garbage collection - it
appears that "soft deleted" blocks are never properly deleted. I think
that this is confirmed by the fact that if you truncate the file to zero
size and THEN delete it, the issue doesn't seem to happen. I haven't
looked further yet, but thought I'd bring this up in case you have.
