 ---> this is the very last output while booting up and the blue led -
 which is const on while booting - goes to OFF.

 The firmware is a self-compiled openwrt r43889 trying to startup wifi to
 connect in mode 'sta' to my home network. But this freeze/crash (sometimes
 triggering a instant reboot) happen in mode 'ap' too. It is also
 reproducible with the lastest image available at the wrtnode wiki.
 Unfortunate I've only one wrtnode, so no chance to rule out any potential
 hardware problem...

 As the image is self compiled I can apply any suggested config/source
 change on request and will continue to investigate this problem by
 myself...
