We have a setup running BB r42625 with an L2TP ipsec VPN.
This has worked without problems for more than a year now.
Today I installed upgradable packages, including an update to strongSwan
(the ipsec daemon), which causes the VPN to stop working.
Attempting to start the ipsec daemon:
/etc/init.d/ipsec start
gives the error:

daemon (strongSwan 5.3.2, Linux 3.10.49, mips)
Wed Jun 17 17:07:00 2015 authpriv.info ipsec_starter[27532]: charon has

refused to be started
We use this setup in production, and are now without a VPN. Any help is
appreciated.
