 see any firewall rule containing the interface name, so I wonder about the
 source of the problem. Max length of some argument?

 If you have them available, could you provide an example of the errors in
 the system log. Especially the dnsmasq one interests, as that is the
 shorter one.

 Adding a limit to Luci is relatively easy.
