#20853: WAN: No DHCP renew on link down/up
-----------------------------------+--------------------------------
 Reporter: anonymous | Owner: developers
     Type: defect | Status: new
 Priority: normal | Milestone:
Component: base system | Version: Chaos Calmer 15.05
Keywords: wan dhcp link down up |
-----------------------------------+--------------------------------
 Device: TL-WR1043ND V2.1

 Switch is:
 CPU
 Port 1 physical 4 (eth1/br-lan)
 Port 2 ... 3
 Port 3 ... 2
 Port 4 physical 1
 Port 5 WAN (eth0)
 Port 6 "CPU"
 Standard with VLAN 1 & 2

 /etc/config/network:
 config interface 'wan'
         option ifname 'eth0'
         option proto 'dhcp'

 config interface 'wan6'
         option ifname 'eth0'
         option proto 'dhcpv6'

 Fresh install + software:
openvpn-openssl (as client for site to site tunnel)
fwknopd ("listen" on udp XXXXX for open tcp/XXX)

If I disconnect the CAT-cable from WAN:

 Kern/syslog:
 kern.info kernel: [42576.860000] Atheros AR8216/AR8236/AR8316 ag71xx-
 mdio.0:00: Port 5 is down
 [42576.860000] Atheros AR8216/AR8236/AR8316 ag71xx-mdio.0:00: Port 5 is
 down

Luci => "Network" => "switch" detects "no link" on Port 5

If I reconnect the cable again with an other upstream router
the DHCP lease do not get renewed. So the WAN remains with
the old IP-Addresses (for ever) - I have no connectivity.

It makes no difference if I disconnect or reconnect for 10
seconds or 1 hour, it stays until I manually restart the
 interface.

 Besides:
Luci shows (since install) for WAN/WAN6 (eth0)
MAC: 00:00:00:00:00:00. ifconfig shows the right MAC.

 Expected result:
After disconnect and reconnect the CAT-cable the DHCP
 lease should get renewed.
(Luci should show the real MAC)

 Actual result:
After disconnect and reconnect the CAT-cable the DHCP
lease stays the same. If upstream changed => no connectivity
 (Luci shows MAC: 00:00:00:00:00:00)
