 I applied the patch to CC and have tested it for 4 days with heavy
 traffic. So far the softirq storm has not appeared  (and neither was the
 TX_STATUS_PS getting stuck phenomenon detected). So I think the patch
 solves this issue.

 What I detected though was the DHCPv4 problem described above and eth0
 (the LAN ports) getting stuck completely (i.e. no traffic at all, though
 wifi and the WAN port continued to work properly). They can both be
 resolved by resetting the interface with ifconfig up/down. They also
 appeared earlier as well, so they are not caused by the patch and are
 probably unrelated to this issue.

 I guess the issue of eth0 getting completely stuck might be a case of DMA
 getting stuck not detected by the current check. Do you think this could
 be the case, i.e. is it worth trying to debug with this assumption?

 The DHCPv4 problem is quite baffling as other traffic seems to be
 unaffected, and it also appears quite rarely...
