#11779: WDR4300 - hardware nat feature ------------------------------------+----------------------------------- Reporter: jozsig2ATg-mailDOTcom | Owner: developers Type: enhancement | Status: closed Priority: normal | Milestone: Barrier Breaker 14.07 Component: kernel | Version: Trunk Resolution: invalid | Keywords: wdr4300 ar8327n ------------------------------------+-----------------------------------
Comment (by anonymous): If you want to know, how doing big vendors /like cisco/ HW NAT, for example on their a9k routers CGN module, download the CGN module's software and extract/analyse it. It uses a lot of general purpose intel x86 CPUs and a special NAT binary handle those CPU cores. In cisco IOS there are a lot of optimizations as in MikroTik RoS and maybe in Linux kernel too. But the Linux kernel's goal is not providing routing platform but only a good base for it like in MikroTik RoS. NAT ASICs has a lot of limitations or that ASIC is not a cheap one. -- Ticket URL: <https://dev.openwrt.org/ticket/11779#comment:156> OpenWrt <http://openwrt.org> Opensource Wireless Router Technology _______________________________________________ openwrt-tickets mailing list openwrt-tickets@lists.openwrt.org https://lists.openwrt.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/openwrt-tickets
