I previously was running a 1 year old trunk for a year, flawless wifi no
problems. The old version was openwrt binaries from the download server.
Now I'm running my own. Only difference is I squeezed more in the rom with
512k squashfs blocksize,16bit mips ASE, and stripping symbols from unused
 kernel/userspace.

<plntyk> well if you checkout trunk from ~1 year ago and it still runs
better you should file a ticket about that regression - might be some
change just broke some hardware revisions

I am compiling a new build from trunk with ath9k debugging enabled. I have
DDNS and ssh access for developers. I can redirect my dmesg to get
 everything.

I compiled WITHOUT DSS. Now I am compiling with DSS.

What debug options would you like to see turned on to make this a proper
 report?

wifi stop; sleep 5; wifi restart fixes the problem for a time.

I can still scan for networks after the crash using iw.
