boy, it would be convenient if someone has seen this before and
knows what's going on.
a friend in town has installed a number of WRT54GLs as hotspots in a
number of places. the specs, as i understand them:
* whiterussian
* chillispot
and not a great deal of fancy add-ons beyond that.
what he tells me is that, on a semi-regular basis (and from more
than one site), he gets a call that wireless on the router has simply
gone away. the wired connection still works, chillispot is still
running, but wireless has simply gone belly up. in his words:
===
"the key problem on White Russian at the moment is that we are getting
loss of ability to move packets (the association stays up, Chillispot
remains running, the network driver/radio appears to be fine, but
there are simply _no_packets_ moving over that interface."
"One theory is that it's a driver problem, hence the idea of trying a
different rev/build of the kernel, but we haven't proven that
conclusively yet."
===
i'm going to get this guy to set me up with an identical unit to see
if i can reproduce the problem, but so far, it's a total mystery.
does this sound even vaguely familiar to anyone? any thoughts?
