Of course - tinyproxy supports 'transparent' proxying but not external
redirectors; the Polipo FAQ calls you a "fascist pig with a read-only
mind" for wanting to do transparent (as we call it) proxying, but has
good support for external redirectors. Reading through the Polipo
docs gives me the distinct impression that the author isn't so
interested in providing what users want but what they think everyone
should have.

You could try chaining them together (iptables->tinyproxy->polipo),
but I have no idea whether that would be more resource-intensive than
just running Squid. Then again, if you can't get Squid to work...
