Can some of you old hands post some ideas about which currently available retail routers are available that are easy to install openw on?
This would be for a fairly basic home lan... nothing to fancy going on with the lan. Approx 5-7 hosts involved. It would need to have gigabit capability (from the internet port as well as client ports) The router usage would be a bit unusual in this way: This router would not be connected to the internet directly but would be connected to a comcast modem/router that connects to internet, and would allow a different subnet for some machines.
