Though I had a brand new install of barrierbreaker on a WR1043ND ready
to plug into the home lan...

But, no doubt due to serious bungling..., I'm back to breaking in with
the failsafe gimmick (turn off power ... on powerup repeatedly press
qss until your see the quick blinking, then telnet to 191.168.1.1)

But after repeated tries... it does not seem to be working. And since
I just came from a round of this very process, I'm pretty sure it is
not the fault of my execution..(although always possible).

So, is there any known problem with entering a barrierBreaker router
with the failsafe gimmick?

Is there any other way to get into a barrierbreaker router when the
settings you attempted to setup fails?.....

------- ------- ---=--- ------- -------

For anyone interested enough to continue reading, here is a quick
rundown of how I got here:

Attempting to resurrect a 1043 with an old version of AA... I ended up
having to be taught by this list how to get into it and install a new
OS.

I did that successfully (with plenty of help).

I then attempted to setup the needed lan ip and a forwarding port
for ssh.

The IP I set was 192.168.2.1 since its a subnet to a subnet. I set
port forwarding so that a host on the main subnet could get to the
192.168.2.1 address via ssh if need be. (This is something I did on
the previous router OS although many months ago... so thought I knew
how to do it)

OK, I then plugged the router into what will be its working position
but could not connect to it using the new IP or the default. So
apparently I did something wrong.

Any how, since I had just been using that failsafe gimmick ... I tried
to use it on the new setup but I still have not succeeded.

Unplug router, plug it in, wait for sys light to blink then press qss
repeatedly until sys blinking accelerates. Now telnet to 192.168.1.1

I've tried it repeatedly at this point... along with attempting ssh to
192.168.2.1 and .....1.1

So far nothing is getting me into the OS.
