I have a Mikrotik RB2011UiAS-2HnD-IN router on which I'm running Openwrt, as there is still active development going on I need to reload Openwrt frequently (back and forth between 14.07 and the latest trunk, patches, etc.).
I currently use the sequence described for the MikroTik RouterBOARD 951Ui-2HnD decribed in http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/mikrotik/rb951ui. It's a long and quite complex sequence, approximately as follows (ignoring any software building to start with) :- Copy the three files (initramfs, kernel and rootfs) to my laptop. Disable wi-fi on the laptop Set laptop to static IP in 192.168.1.0 range Connect patch cable from laptop to port 1 on the Mikrotik Reboot Mikrotik and interrupt boot to go into loader, this involves another PC with a serial port connected to the Mikrotik's comm port. Use the COM port console to tell the Mikrotik to boot from ethernet Run the BOOTP/TFTP script on the laptop to load the initramfs image to the Mikrotik and boot that Perform the sequence in http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/mikrotik/rb951ui, not entirely trivial because the laptop doesn't have an internet connection at this point (still static and connected to the Mikrotik) and so one has to read from screen to screen, can't just cut and paste. Finally reboot the Mikrotik with new software installed and reset the laptop to normality etc. Is there no easy way to load a new version of Openwrt over an existing version? -- Chris Green _______________________________________________ openwrt-users mailing list [email protected] https://lists.openwrt.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/openwrt-users
