I thought this was supported with including a USB based WIFI device in the
build package.

I’m using the Atheros based USB drivers, and do not see how this ‘works’ with
multiple insert and removal of the USB device.

The idea is that ordinarily The Box does not have WIFI, unless someone inserts
the WIFI device.

Things that work:

Upon boot, the USB WIFI device is found and the wlan0 device initialized, as
well as hostapd is initialized and running.

Upon insertion of the USB WIFI device, a script in /etc/hotplug.d/usb is
executed, with ‘add’ or ‘remove’ depending.

However, on remove and subsequent insert of the Usb WIFI device, wlan1, wlan2,
and the corresponding phy1, phy2, are created.

The ‘wireless’ file in /etc/config/wireless, only has wlan0 associated (and a
option path string that only corresponds to the first creation of
the ‘wlan0’ device.

——

So, how is this supposed to work for multiple insert and remove operations to
trigger starting of hostapd correctly.

Thanks,
John Clark.
