Which is why if you want something to be secure you need multiple layers of protection, For instance Google puts together Mail + SMS + other stuff (and it's far from being foolproof itself).
You may not agree legitimally, but still saying SMS verification alone is better then E-Mail verification is misleading at best. The fact it works for you it doesn't mean it's an optimal choice and should put other methods apart.
