As other point out, DMARC is about address spoofing, and solves it in a way which makes several common uses of email beyond simple 1:1 messaging break entirely, for example this very mailing list (or that of the IETF). I for one am very glad, at times like this, that we don't have cabals of large operators who similarly decide to bypass the standards organizations and solve their own niche problems without consulting the community.
