hi romanos, its a bit of the other way around currently. we have provided bgppcep project with functional, and performance requirements for netvirt. the discussion with the project next year on what gaps are there currently, and how to go about closing them. i guess the next step after this would be some proto activity to switch between the 2 implementations (bgppcep engine and external quagga), from a netvirt perspective. once this is satisfactory, we could add some configuration variables to enable the same in netvirt. thanks!daya From: Skiadas Romanos <r...@intracom-telecom.com> To: Dayavanti Gopal Kamath <dayavanti.gopal.kam...@ericsson.com>; odl netvirt dev <netvirt-...@lists.opendaylight.org> Cc: "opnfv-tech-discuss@lists.opnfv.org" <opnfv-tech-discuss@lists.opnfv.org> Sent: Friday, December 23, 2016 1:21 PM Subject: [netvirt-dev] [sdnvpn] RE: Quagga and ODL bgp with NetVirt Hi Daya,
So if I understand correctly, these are the requirements of the bgppcep project that need to be met by netvirt. This was quite informative and it is quite interesting for the OPNFV sdnvpn project as well I think. Having integration tests for Quagga is currently in progress[0] for us. Performance testing is planned for this release[1]. Maybe there is space for a potential SDNVPN/BGPPCEP collaboration there? (@Nikolas, thoughts?) Thanks for the info, I'll try to join the discussion after the break. We have provided them with a list of requirements for the netvirt BGP stack, https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1zr4IyZZ_F7HHUpLB6JvLxDR0cAYi8_QNMyDe2B7m0ZY/edit?usp=sharing there is a plan to discuss the same with them after the holiday break. No further progress on it as of now. We will update the trello card once this moves along. The current solution will continue using the Quagga stack until above is fully complete, and Ericsson is working with the Quagga community to ensure full feature support is available as needed. For example, all support needed for EVPN and multi-path is being added in Quagga as well. As I understand, the code was inherited from vpnservice, but I'm not sure what is/will happen to it. I found a hint in the trello board. https://trello.com/c/ucSlg62x/95-quagga-vs-odl-bgp-for-netvirt I can't find the related meeting logs, could someone explain the "concern about using both bgp and netvirt in same jvm". What is the concern? Does this mean this code will be frozen even if someone wanted to change or improve it?
