In a nutshell, the goal of this experiment is to see how different benchmark results are obtained on the same SUT using different tools: vsperf (with your choice of traffic gen) and nfvbench (trex). This will complement nicely Al’s presentation at the plugfest. Requirements: Install docker on the jump host where Trex is running (unless it is already installed) I can do that once I get access to the jump host (or anybody feel free to install docker) Docker is needed in order to run the nfvbench container. Run vsperf to bring up a packet path on the SUT This requires someone from vsperf team to stage the SUT properly. I would need to understand more about the looping mechanism used and its requirements on traffic packets (mainly how the L3 packets need to look like to loop back). Nfvbench currently sends UDP packets and supports configurable dest MAC and src/dest IP, src/dest port. Provide Trex ports information on the jump host I need to know which ports are wired to the SUT – and make sure no one else is mapped to it.
