Hi Rafael Yes, you can change the “virtual.conf”. I did not try 4GB for each node in virtual deployment. I think 8 GB would be fine. BTW, compass core VM will use 4GB RAM.
Absolutely you don’t need to have 5 host VMs. You can deploy a 1+1 cluster which includes 1 control node and 1 compute node. What you need to modify are listed below: 1. In the file “compass4nfv/deploy/conf/vm_environment/os-nosdn-nofeature-ha.yml”, delete the redundant hosts. You just need 2 hosts including host1 with “controller”, “ha” roles and host2 with compute role. 2. Add “export VIRT_NUMBER=2” in your run.sh before deployment. Hope you have a nice experience with Compass. The page I am using as a reference is the following: http://artifacts.opnfv.org/compass4nfv/colorado/3.0/docs/installationprocedure/index.html. I am starting to deploy the OPNFV for testing and I noticed the following: Do we really need 16GB of memory for every VM that is going to play a role such as OpenStack compute/controller nodes? I mean, I am deploying a test environment for a single user. If I change the parameter on “virtual.conf” file to 4GB (instead of 16), would it still work? 16GB for every host VM seems too much; the server I am using has only 25GB of RAM and right now I do not have 3 servers for the bare metal deployment. Also, if I want to remove a host VM, can I just remove one entry from “os-nosdn-nofeature-ha.yml”? Or is it a hard requirement to have at least 5 host VMs? For testing purposes, I do not think that I need two controller nodes. -- Rafael Weingärtner
