I’m way behind on this. Summer and some other things got the better of me.
The WG LC has concluded. The feedback was to clarify some text in the draft, especially around this being historical, as well as how the forward reference to pcapng should appear. And again, Michael Tüxen has agreed to shepherd. We are awaiting this new draft revision and the shepherd write-up, and then we will move forward to the IESG. There was some additional discussion that PCAPng should remain PCAPng and there be a “backronym” that “ng” will mean “now generic”. That is for the remaining PCAPng draft. Michael Tüxen has graciously agreed to act as shepherd. Given that this is the IETF week, we’ll do a three week WG LC for https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-ietf-opsawg-pcap/. Please post comments and thoughts on the document’s readiness to the list. The WG LC will conclude on August 11, 2025. Joe and Benoît
