Duncan,

I had some issues with my server that I cleared up. Once I
re-installed...I got the agent working except for one thing...

Jul 22 09:07:15 egapp10 nrpe[22092]: Error: Request contained command
arguments!

Jul 22 09:07:15 egapp10 nrpe[22092]: Client request was invalid, bailing
out...

OR

Jul 22 12:25:04 egapp10 nrpe[22615]: Error: Request contained illegal
metachars!

Jul 22 12:25:04 egapp10 nrpe[22615]: Client request was invalid, bailing
out...

From what I can find...it appears that the nrpe agent for PPC was
compiled without command line argument support.

FROM AN INTEL MAC WITH THE INTEL AGENT

./check_nrpe -H INTELMAC -c check_procs -a '-a "MassTransit Engine" -c
1:1'

PROCS OK: 1 process with args 'MassTransit Engine'

FROM A PPC MAC WITH THE PPC AGENT

./check_nrpe -H PPCMAC -c check_procs -a '-a "MassTransit Engine" -c
1:1'

CHECK_NRPE: Received 0 bytes from daemon. Check the remote server logs
for error messages.

However...the command ./check_nrpe -H PPCMAC returns

NRPE v2.12

The packages I downloaded were:

OpsviewAgent_OSX-10.5-3.0.1-ppc.pkg and
OpsviewAgent_OSX-10.5-3.0.1-intel.pkg

Please let me know if I can provide any further details. Thank you.

Everyone,

I have two Apple servers I am trying to monitor. One of them is an
Intel and the other an older G5 PPC. I have crafted a command to check
for a particular process that looks like the following:

./check_nrpe -H hostname -c check_procs -a '-a "Process Name" -c 1:1'

This command works fine against the Intel server, but produces the
following error on the G5 PPC...

Jul 17 15:52:29 egapp10 nrpe[5254]: Error: Request contained illegal
metachars!

Jul 17 15:52:29 egapp10 nrpe[5254]: Client request was invalid, bailing
out...

I also noticed that the nagios user/group were not created by the PPC
installer, but were on the Intel installer.

Is there an issue with the PPC installer and/or nrpe agent?

I would be happy to provide debugs if needed.

Can you please provide the version numbers of the packages installed?
Both packages should have been built exactly the same if they on the
same version and both recent downloads from out web site. I'll also see
if i can set up a test here to see what happens.
