The problem is reproduced.

Q) Does the nagios process die or the opsviewd?
A) opsviewd is alive, but nagios process is dead.

Q)What are in the /var/log/opsview/opsviewd.log and the /usr/local/ nagios/var/nagios.
log?
A)

I've tested this on an Ubuntu Hardy 32 bit and a Debian Etch 64 bit where I:
  * added a downtime for a host
  * waited for the downtime icon to appear
  * went up one level to the hostgroup containing this host
  * deleted all downtime for the host group

But I don't get the segfault.

Can you check in the system preferences that the daemon dumps core value is set (reload if not). There should be a core dump file in /usr/ local/nagios/etc when the nagios daemon dies.

Also, when nagios daemon is running, can you run an strace and capture the output. Do this just before you submit the cancel.

Please send the coredump file, the nagios executable and the strace output, tarred and gzipped.

What does 'file /usr/local/nagios/bin/nagios' and 'uname -a' give?

We will look at it, but I can't promise a response time.
