I’m attempting to get a distributed opsview system up and running
(community 3.3.0 on centos 5.3 installed via yum). The behavior I’m
seeing which has spawned this question is. When a slave issues a
notification we are logging into the master server and acknowledging
the alert. In the master’s web gui the service check is listed as
acknowledged but the slave keeps renotifying.
Is this expected behavior in a distributed setup?
Acknowledgements will get sent from the master down to all slaves in
the UI. Depending on which slave currently has the host actively
monitored, the acknowledgement will apply there too.
However, there is currently a limitation is that downtimes and
acknowledgements are not synchronised between slaves or slave clusters
- see the note in http://docs.opsview.org/doku.php?id=opsview3.3:slavesetup
. So if a host is moved between slaves or a cluster, the
acknowledgement may not apply.
This seems to catch a lot of people out and is unintuitive behaviour,
so we'll look into addressing it in the 3.3.2 release.
