Hi James, I think the new user interface will be a big step forward for Opsview!
I've posted screen shots previewing the new user interface in Opsview 3.5.0 here: http://bit.ly/4d1rdI
Overall it looks nice. The readability seems to be much better than before. For our customers it is crucial to provide as much usable vertical space as possible (most people are using 16:9 wide displays). So menues on the side seem to be a much better idea than a menue on top. Any navigation/search/logo element should be as condensed as possible.
We've also moved to a new framework for displaying performance data.
Looks promising. Maybe its a bit old school but I think Javasript should add functionality and should not be mandatory. The flot examples are not viewable at all without Javascript. Are there "real" images which could be diplayed without any scripting?
- The actual size (width) of Opsview graphics is to small. The new display should fix this (or make it configurable via site preferences)
- Without numbers and scales graphics are more eye candy. The screenshot and flot examples are looking promising providing numbers by with mouse over. The old MRTG index scripts provided min, max and average values by numbers. Thats what we are asked for by customers. Perhaps the actual Opsview MRTG implementation and the flot based implementation could be amended to provide these numbers?
- Is it possible to print these images? bye, Karsten Leiter IT-Management -- - lsp - linux solution park gmbh, infrastruktur + software - Anschrift: Amandastrasse 58, 20357 Hamburg - Fon: +49-40-41436-333, Fax: +49-40-41436-334 - http://www.linux-solution-park.de/ -- - Firmensitz: Brandshofer Deich 48, 20539 Hamburg - Registergericht: Amtsgericht Hamburg HRB 102452 / UStID DE256498437 - GF: Dipl.
