Crazy thought-

Have you considered virtualization? Say... running Xen or OpenVZ with the
matching distro? I've got a CentOS server running a Debian OVZ container, I
don't see why it wouldn't work... Of course KVM or Xen would work, but an OVZ
guest - might have to give it a try myself ;-)

Subject: Re: [opsview-users] Opsview Slaves

Hi Guys,

I would like to mention that I have a master / slave that are on
different OS's. The way I get around the updating slave from master is
I make a backup of the binaries (particularly the check scripts and bin
folder) I then run the update and after the slave has the newest code,
I replace the binaries with the ones I backed up. I also update the
binaries as if that system was a master, I also run a testing system
that is on the same OS as my slave, so I can always copy the binaries
from that system to the slave if needed.

Works for us. Until I can either move the master or slave to the same
OS as the other.

  Hi Ton,

We are “merging” our Opsview master-only monitoring solution with
another groups’ pure Nagios distributed monitoring solution. We were
considering converting all of their distributed slaves to be Opsview
Slaves to our master.

The master is Solaris 10 on x86-64, the slaves are Debian on x86.

Thanks,

Dustin
