Hi Henry!
Thank you for your answer.
That's really near on what I need to set up:
2x Master (active/passive - heartbeat crm)
and in 3 different locations a pair of slaves (also 3x2 too) to monitor 3
different datacenters.
The prupose is to leave master servers as core with minimal active checks. The most will be checked by slaves. Another
reason to implement a secure network infrastructure too, master private and slaves on public lan and reduce much as
possible nat sessions. Reverse tunnels implemented as well.
MySQL resides on separate infrastructure powered by heartbeat/crm, drbd on SAS disks (raid1) with awesome performances
(MyISAM engine near to MEMORY engine speed!).
How many hosts/checks, performances and average check interval do you use?
This to design (and request) the hardware needed and secure best scalability.
Any suggestion is welcome
Thank's!
Simon

Hello!
Here Opsview Master is installed on a hearbeat/crm setup. Two locations,
two ubuntu servers, various filesystems in DRBD setup: www, opsview,
mysql, ldap, parts of /etc. 12 gig of RAM, four Xeno X5450, RAID 5 on 4
local SATA Disks (which we maybe replace by SAS disks, we slight load
issues, see notes on MySQL farther down).
DRBD Performance is very good, though the DRBD hasn't a sperate
NetworkConnection.
BUT wie got big issues with server performance, as currently opsview
shares the server with mysql. We're planning to migrate mysql to a
different cluster the next weeks. I've to note, that we keep 1 year of
historical data in ODW an a log of the performance issues come from the
import_runtime_job (which we tuned to death ;).
Most of the checks are done by Slaves (we got 2x3 = 6), which we use for
network separation (this has been the main reason to choose Opsview).
The slave run like a charm : )
We changed the NRPE client do increase the load to 16k (you may search
this list for details).
If you face any problems/questions I'll be glad to share our
experiences.
