This is something we're expecting to address in Opsview Community 3.7.1
There are several changes to Opsview's SNMP polling capabilities on
the roadmap.
I’m trying to set up some custom SNMP checks for some wireless gear
we have. Oids which return finite stats like signal level create
graphs just the way I would expect. Oids which return counters,
such as octets in or out, create graphs that just continually
increase (this kind of makes sense when you think about it). I’ve
been trying to figure out how to make Opsview realize that the data
to be graphed is a counter, not a measurement. My understanding is
that when Nagios returns interface statistics it includes something
in the string of data that makes the graphing system know that it’s
a counter vs. a hard value. Has anybody run into this? Is there a
switch or something I’m missing when creating custom SNMP checks, or
do I need to dig under the hood a little and possibly manually
create the RRDs?
