Remember to make sure that if there are multiple slaves working side by side
(Clustered so they can take over for one and another) that they can resolve
each others hostnames.

Here is the link I used to do this very thing yesterday:

http://docs.opsview.com/doku.php?id=opsview-community

Search for "Opsview Slave Server"

Make sure your nagios and nagcmd user/group ids are the same on both servers.

I've configured a slave on Solaris, and the documentation for 3.0 and 3.5, 3.6
is very similar.
On any OS supported by Opsview you must in order:

- install on the slave machine all the prerequisites for opsview, like if you
want to install a master server
- sync the clocks of master and slaves with ntp
- exchange ssh keys, there are many guides on the net. You must allow the
nagios user on the master server to login on the slave server as nagios user
without password. This is needed to transfer configurations and manage the
slave via the master server.
- try to run as nagios user on the master the send-slave -t command as written
on the wiki

On the opsview web interface you must:
- create an host (like if you want to monitor it) with the address and name of
the slave. Monitor checks are not needed, and will be added later
automatically.
- go to advanced -> monitoring servers
- create a new slave server selecting the slave host in the list
- reload the opsview configuration

(these steps are pretty well documented on the wiki)

Do you have any particolar problem?

Emilio

I found documentation on setting up a slave in opsview 3.0. Is there anymore
current documentation out there for the new release of 3.7 or even 3.5. Looking
for what ports I need to open and how-to install on RHEL 5.

Thanks in advance,

Jake
