The core file showed that the address pointer was invalid, although it must have been valid in the earlier function, so I'm baffled.

I've done a bit of a code cleanup to remove some unnecessary casts and fixed a function declaration. This will be in 3.7.1.

We'll have to keep an eye on this - let us know if you get another crash in 3.7.1.

Hi Ton,
I've sent you the core dump. Let me know if there's anything else that might help you troubleshoot this.

Hi Rafael,

Thanks for the information. However, it doesn't seem to tell me anything new.

I think we really need the core dump to progress this further. On my install server, coredumps are produced in the nagios user's home directory. I've added some extra information at:

Ton,
I've got a strace of this problem:

unlink("/usr/local/nagios/var/spool/checkresults/cYd0RYN") = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory)
unlink("/usr/local/nagios/var/spool/checkresults/cYd0RYN.ok") = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory)
stat("/etc/localtime", {st_mode=S_IFREG|0644, st_size=3519, ...}) = 0
stat("/etc/localtime", {st_mode=S_IFREG|0644, st_size=3519, ...}) = 0
wait4(-1, NULL, WNOHANG, NULL)          = -1 ECHILD (No child processes)
nanosleep({0, 250000000}, NULL)         = 0
stat("/etc/localtime", {st_mode=S_IFREG|0644, st_size=3519, ...}) = 0
stat("/etc/localtime", {st_mode=S_IFREG|0644, st_size=3519, ...}) = 0
wait4(-1, NULL, WNOHANG, NULL)          = -1 ECHILD (No child processes)
open("/usr/local/nagios/var/nagios.log", O_RDWR|O_CREAT|O_APPEND, 0666) = 8
fstat(8, {st_mode=S_IFREG|0644, st_size=2719415, ...}) = 0
mmap(NULL, 4096, PROT_READ|PROT_WRITE, MAP_PRIVATE|MAP_ANONYMOUS, -1, 0) = 0x7fce8fa66000
write(8, "[1274812325] EXTERNAL COMMAND: D"..., 62) = 62
close(8)                                = 0
munmap(0x7fce8fa66000, 4096)            = 0
--- SIGSEGV (Segmentation fault) @ 0 (0) ---
Process 14122 detached

I can see that the command was written to nagios.log:
# grep EXT /usr/local/nagios/var/nagios.log | grep 1274812325
[1274812325] EXTERNAL COMMAND: DEL_HOSTGROUP_SVC_DOWNTIME;DCO

Does this help? Any clues?

Rafael
