*Job Title : MySQL DBA Location : Long Island, NY Duration : 6 month Rate : DOE* MySQL DBA Responsibilities: - understand what is being asked in a business scenario and be able to translate that to pseudo-code or technical specifications for review - properly communicate and flesh out all details, including reporting requirements, deadline and final structure - develop SQL to mine the data from a MySQL (95% of the time) or SQL Server (5% of the time) database and review with his/her lead - properly illustrate the data in the appropriate format (Excel, PPT, Text etc); ensure acuracy - develop charts or graphs if necessary - speak to the trends or patterns in the data; provide examples for real life illustration - adequately prepared to conduct follow up analysis or deal with post-distribution questions Technical skills: - SQL (must have) - MySQL and SQL Server (must have) - Stored procedure development and troubleshooting - Performance tuning of queries - ETL in every sense of the acronym: extract data from a data source, transform data into a readable manner (either machine readable or a report) and load this to a system, server, database or other RDB - working knowledge of shell scripting - working knowledge of Linux/Unix (ie. know how to get around) - Database Administration (nice to have) - Oracle a plus; Informix a reach (nice to have) - Jasper Reporting (nice to have) - SED / AWK (nice to have) ------------------------------------------ Warm Regards , Shawn - Sr. Technical Recruiter Riviera Consulting LLC.
