Job Title: ETL Architect
Location: Atlanta, GA
Duration: 12 Months

Georgia Tech Enterprise Data Management (EDM) is seeking an experienced ETL
Architect who will be part of our Data Warehouse team responsible for
designing, developing and implementing ETL jobs that will support the
Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) architecture as well as other data marts as
needed.

The candidate will analyze data requirements, logical data models, data
source systems and will determine best methods in extracting, transforming
and loading the data into the EDW.

The candidate will develop ETL templates and standards as well as advise on
best practices.

The candidate will also help develop and advise on best practices on data
warehousing processes.

Key Responsibilities:
•Analyze reporting requirements to determine development methods,
development templates, and to determine job scheduling.
•Build the EDW using complex transformations that come from many of Georgia
Tech’s systems.
•Develop ETL jobs that satisfy identified data model.
•Provide guidance in the administration of the DataStage ETL tool including
developing best practices of development, administering security,
developing job scheduling and monitoring techniques, and all other system
responsibility including creating, configuring and applying patch, creating
projects, credential mapping, creating users, changing passwords, start
stop applications activities, etc.
•Develop and train internal Enterprise Data Management resources on
DataStage development and best practices
•Work with the Data Warehouse Architect on data model review. Provide
guidance and support to the Data Warehouse Architect, as needed, on data
modeling best practices
•Work with other development units in developing best practices in ETL
development for Georgia Tech. Support ETL developers in development and
troubleshooting data issues.
•Monitor nightly loads and troubleshoot any issues that arise.
•Maintain technical support documentation.
•Other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
Degrees required for this job:  Bachelor’s degree in related field, or
equivalent combination of experience and education

Years of experience required for this job:
6- 8 years of job related experience.  At least 6 years in ETL development
on any tool and at least 4 years in IBM DataStage ETL tool.  These may
overlap for a total of 6 years work experience

Technical Skills Required:
•Full life-cycle experience on large/complex enterprise projects.
•Hands on experience in IBM DataStage ETL Design, Development & Build, and
in administering the ETL tool.
•Experience in project life cycle activities on DW/BI (Data warehouse and
Business Intelligence) development and maintenance projects.
•Experience in developing best practices and reviewing work of other ETL
developers.
•Understanding of Unix/Linux system, files systems, shell scripting.
•Understanding of databases/ data marts/data warehouses and complex SQL and
Oracle PL/SQL.  Experience with databases including Oracle (11gR2),
Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL.
•Proficiency with automated data modeling tools (ex. Erwin), Hyperion,
Business Objects, Cognos, MS Excel, expertise in SQL, PL/SQL, Linux.
Other Skills Required:  Strong written and verbal communication skills
including the ability to express ideas concisely and clearly to both
technical and non-technical audiences.

Good problem solving and analytical skills used to resolve technical
problems.  Must possess a good understanding of business requirements and
IT strategies.  Ability to work independently, but is also a team player.
Ability to lead a team of ETL developers.

Specialized skills preferred:
•Experience in a Higher Education environment.
•Experience with PeopleSoft HCM and/or PeopleSoft Financials
•Experience with Banner.
