*Role: Desktop Implementation and Application Packaging Engineer*
*Location: Rocklin, CA* *STORE SYSTEMS ENGINEER IV* The Stores Engineer IV performs engineering, administration and support functions in a large Microsoft Windows server and workstation environment. Participates in site preparation for complex server installations. Performs application software installation; and conducts non-critical and critical software and parm file rollouts; and provides technical support to end-users and second/third-level support. Performs deployment configurations of software rollouts; and troubleshoots and resolves problems. Documents processes for computer configurations and their functions to engineers and support staff. Works with Store Systems project teams to provide engineering vision, design, planning, implementation, and deployment for all departmental project work. *ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: * • Work with technicians to install server and workstation hardware remotely, with minimal to no engineering support requirements. • Participates in site preparation for complex store installations. • Performs automated software and parm file rollouts. • Provides technical support to end-users. Provides 3rd level support for Store Support, Store Applications, and Store Construction teams. • Performs operations with system maintenance, service restoration, security administration, system repairs, and configuration changes. Assists with scheduling these activities. • Performs changes to the store LAN/WAN switches to troubleshoot and repair store network issues with connectivity issues, data security, DNS, DHCP, and WiFi. • Maintain and manages the service accounts for the STORES.WSGC.COM domain • Resolves security issues. Works with IT Security to set and implement security policies and procedures. • Monitors and tests new hardware and configurations to ensure optimal performance per established objectives. • Plays a role in capacity planning and performance modeling and monitoring for the store systems. • Manages high-level technical escalations from the ticket queue for Retail Infrastructure. Identifies, troubleshoots, analyzes, and resolves complex problems in a timely manner within the service level. • Escalates any unresolved problems to subject matter expert, vendor or manager. • Identifies and communicates new store needs and works with Store Construction on server hardware and software. • Helps to establish and maintain standards for server computer hardware and software. • Documents installation procedures for applications. Assists in documenting the network. • Creates and maintains detailed documentation regarding the store systems and their functions. • Becomes subject matter expert in store hardware/software applications. • Maintains knowledge of retail technology trends affecting Williams-Sonoma's stores and provides knowledge transfer and feedback as appropriate. • Assists in the formulation of schedules for maintenance activities. • Maintains relationships with external suppliers and vendors. • Performs other duties as assigned. *REQUIREMENTS/ QUALIFICATIONS * • BA/BS degree in computer science, information systems or other related field or equivalent work experience. • 5-7 years of related work experience. • Proficient in Windows operating systems XP/7/8/2003/2008/2012 installation, configuration and support.
