This position will be responsible for senior-level management and
maintenance of the SRTA’s LAN/WAN environment and computer systems.  It
will include the participation in and oversight of the daily upkeep and
administration of the companies' network infrastructure and computer
systems. This position will also be responsible for the design, planning,
implementation, and maintenance of SRTA’s network infrastructure and
architecture.  A Senior Network will be expected to mentor other
less-experienced Network Engineers.



The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for maintaining the design and
integrity of the internal network, including customer-facing hosted and
cloud environments. This position will provide expert technical assistance
to team members with high-level system and networking request.  This role
will be responsible designing, implementing and testing complex
infrastructure in support of SRTA’s needs.



As a member of the IT Team, the Senior Network Engineer will provide onsite
and remote support to  SRTA and our third party vendors who have critical
response time requirements for their business technology systems.

 The Senior Network Engineer will work independently and as part of a team
to answer service desk calls, urgently analyze technical issues, address
Level 2 escalations, work with the project manager on team related
projects, and troubleshoot over the phone/onsite/via remote access.



Finally, this role will successfully demonstrate the skills required to
secure and manage network infrastructures to protect productivity, mitigate
threats, and reduce costs.



Position Duties

Provide technical services and support for the following areas:

Network level: WAN and LAN connectivity, routers, firewalls, and security
Internal systems, cloud and network infrastructure.

Remote access solution support: VPN (IPsec/SSL), Terminal Services, SSH,
and Web portal Monitoring and management of system alerts and notifications
Perform network assessments and security audits Implement and maintain all
network, security, and computer systems to meet the organization's current
and future requirements Deploy and troubleshoot VOIP and other VOIP
technologies Work with Sales Team to Engineer projects, identify new
products and solutions, and research solutions for existing clients
Document maintenance for all computer systems, security systems, and
network infrastructure Communication with customers as required: keeping
them informed of incident progress, notifying them of impending changes or
agreed outages Implement the necessary controls and procedures to protect
information systems assets from intentional or inadvertent modification,
disclosure, or destruction Assist in the development of guidelines and
procedures for administration and security best practices Perform regular
security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions

Monitor network usage, anticipate problems and suggest solutions Manage
projects and maintenance tasks in our ticketing system Work closely with
colleagues to meet teams and agencies goals and improve processes and
practices Be available for other engineers and coach them to resolution
Remain current on emerging technologies via professional groups, trade
magazines, internal and external training, independent research and study,
and other available avenues Perform other tasks as requested by the
Director of IT Required Technical Proficiencies



Switching (Capacity Planning & VLAN’s, QoS) Routing (OSPF, RIPv2, BGP,
Multicast) WAN Technology (MPLS, VPLS, VPN) Voice Technologies (POTS, VoIP,
SIP Trunking) Firewall technologies (Packet Filtering, Stateful, UTM, Next
Generation) Familiarity with: VPNs, VOIP, SIP Trunking, BGP, VLAN, Large
Scale Wireless Deployments Security software such as Anti-virus, Anti-SPAM,
Anti-Spyware, Sandboxing, IDS, IPS, and other security related technologies
Expert understanding of firewall configuration and maintenance, Expert
knowledge in configuration, installation, troubleshooting, and supporting
of Networking equipment, Wireless (Wi-Fi) equipment, and network
peripherals Comfortable documenting and explaining network topologies,
understand and diagram existing network, diagram, explain and plan for
future upgrades Experience deploying and/or maintaining an enterprise
campus Wi-Fi network Expert knowledge of 802.1q VLANs and working within
industry best practices General patch cable termination capabilities (Cat5e
/ Cat6) Experience designing, installing, and maintaining fiber optic
networks Ability to engineer, build, and test wireless network for optimum
coverage and reliability General understanding of VoIP equipment and
operation and able to work with a VoIP provider to deploy and support
Knowledgeable in application transport and network infrastructure protocols
(SSL/TLS, DNS, DHCP, WINS, NTP, FTP, HTTP, SMTP, CIFS, LDAP, and Microsoft
AD), and possess an understanding of how to support these applications /
protocols when accessed through VPN and firewall appliances.

 Minimum Qualifications



Completion of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
in accounting or a relevant field AND five years of professional accounting
work experience, three of which must have been in a supervisory role.

Cisco CCNA and CCNP certification

A minimum of 10 years' experience of expertise in implementing,
administering, and troubleshooting network infrastructure devices,

including: firewalls, routers, switches, wireless access points and
controllers, and monitoring applications Preferred Qualifications

Work experience in the public sector is a plus, specifically in the
tolling, transit, or transportation industry
