*Position:* Database Administrator / Oracle DBA *Location:* Chicago, IL *Position Type:* Contract 6 Months+
We need *Database Administrator/DBA* will be involved in designing, installing, configuring, managing, and supporting technical components within the database environment. *Should have strong experience with Technology Components that include the core RDBMS Oracle platform and operating system tools such as OEM and OID* *Roles/Responsibilities* · *Project Delivery* o Support the project manager in defining the work and the associated effort, duration, and resource needs to deliver the solution. Communicate status to the project manager to provide completion status of assigned tasks, estimate to complete for remaining effort, and associated issues/risks. Based on defined technical requirements and architecture blueprints work with a cross-functional team to develop the open systems detailed design and associated open systems specifications as part of an overall solution design. Deploy and configure the open systems components per the detailed design. Document test cases, perform operational readiness testing to ensure the open systems environment performs as required and document actual results. Create proper knowledge transfer documentation and runbooks of environment (based on project requirements and design/build criteria) and conduct knowledge and ownership of environment to Client Operations team · *General system administration* o Edit instance and database configuration files/settings o Create database schemas/objects/structures (tables/indexes/views/etc.) o Stop / start instances and databases o Develop scripts to automate administrative activities – update scripts based on database changes § Create new copies of existing schemas § Unload/Load/Copy Table Data § Install/update standard data management utilities, e.g. backups and data/index reorgs. and standard monitoring scripts o Perform special request database backup and recovery. Clone data between databases o Perform database tuning § Periodic reviews of instance and database configuration parameters, ensuring that they are still appropriate § Periodic reviews of storage utilization and growth patterns, ensuring that current allocations are still appropriate · *On request perform general database troubleshooting* o Read database and system log files o Read application log files o Using system diagnostic tools to monitor/understand system performance · *Deploy new instances and databases and associated database tools and upgrade and apply patches as needed* o Install DBMs software. Install database client software.
