*Position: Sr Database Administrator Location: Chicago, IL Duration: 6 Months Contract Must be Local IL* *Required:* The candidate is responsible for the support and operation of DB2 LUW database management software and related facilities which includes query tools, data management tools, development tools, performance monitors and utility software. Under general supervision, is responsible for the support and operation of commercial database management software and related facilities which includes query tools, data management tools, development tools, performance monitors and utility software. This position applies to DB2 LUW databases running on the AIX and Linux OS. The candidate is viewed as an expert in database analysis and development. Undertakes complex database projects requiring additional specialized technical knowledge. Makes well-thought-out decisions on complex or ambiguous database issues. Coordinates with users to determine requirements. Ensures that database changes are successfully implemented and verified. Establishes and communicates common database goals and directions for the project team. Acts as a source of direction, training and guidance for less experienced staff. Qualifications • BS/BA Degree, preferably in Computer Science or comparable experience. • Typically requires six to ten years of experience working on the target platform as a programmer or DBA with at least five years’ experience working as a DBA on the target DBMS. DB2 LUW V9.5 and V9.7 required. V10 a plus. • Thorough knowledge and experience working with IBM’s OPTIM performance monitor, or a tool with similar functionality. (OPTIM strongly preferred.) • Thorough knowledge and experience working with IBM’s Data Studio DBA productivity tool, or a tool with similar functionality. (OPTIM strongly preferred.) • At least two years’ experience working with DB2 LUW HADR technology. • At least two years’ experience working with IBM’s SQL Replication or Change Data Capture replication technologies, or a tool with similar functionality required. (Change Data Capture strongly preferred.) • Strong knowledge of UNIX scripting. • Excellent knowledge of SQL tuning techniques. • Should have a good understanding of Networking and Application Server technologies.
