*Senior-level administration and support of Linux (Red Hat/CentOS) servers
and systems. Designs and implements Linux systems and related solutions.
Use of various tools for patch and template maintenance. Maintains
effective operation of multi-user computer systems in coordination with
network administrators. Duties may include setting up administrator and
service accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system
performance, installing system and application software as well as
allocating storage. Interacts with users and evaluates vendor products.
Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates
installation, and is responsible for backup and recovery of corporate data.
Develops policies and standards for allocation of computing resources and
monitors the utilization of those resources. Must have Virtualization
experience preferably VmWare vSphere 5.0, ESXi 5.0 and vCenter server 5.0.
Experience with EMC storage products is a definite advantage. Experience
designing and implementing server solutions using Cisco’s Unified Computing
System (UCS) .

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Define, maintain, implement, support, and troubleshoot software and
hardware relating to corporate Linux servers and systems, focused Red Hat
Enterprise Linux / CentOS operating systems
• Help define and support the corporate storage environment for file
servers and database storage (SAN / NAS, fileservers).
• Support multiple Business units by solving problems, writing scripts,
maintaining and supporting operational resources
• Ensure the appropriate archiving of data to permanent storage.
• Interact with internal customers as well as IT personnel to assist in
problem solving, administration, project work, and solutions.
• Provide configuration management, application implementation, server
upgrades, software and operating system patches, data backup and restore
for the machines and data within incumbent*s area of responsibility.
• Ensure that security issues are addressed including unauthorized access,
viruses, and protection of sensitive data.
• Ensure a high level of service by identifying problems, trends, and areas
for improvement.
• Develop and maintain documents on architecture and configuration.
• Provide system performance and tuning as well as root cause
determination.
• Write Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) (in conjunction with
Regulatory and Quality Assurance) as required for Linux, and backup and
recovery infrastructure
• Ensure procedures are followed to maintain compliance for auditing.
• Research new technologies and solutions to meet corporate needs.
• Assist in developing technical requirements for the interoperability of
systems.
• Monitor systems' logs, messages, and alerts.
• Provide 24 x 7 on-call support as needed.
• Rack/stack servers in a Data Center environment
• Support Development, QA and Production environments from a Linux and
Virtualization standpoint
• Experience specifying, designing, implementing, and supporting VMware’s
product line, including vSphere, vCenter, Hypervisor, and VDI (Virtual
Desktop Manager, VMware View, etc).
• Experience virtualizing common backoffice operating systems, Databases
and applications on VMware (such as Microsoft Windows Server, File servers,
Oracle Database, etc.)

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
Education and Experience:
• BS / BA degree in related discipline and ten (10) years of related
experience; or,
• Equivalent combination of education and experience.
• May require certification in assigned area.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
• Performs a variety of complicated tasks with a wide degree of creativity
and latitude.
• Determines methods and procedures for new implementations.
• Familiar with various admin tools eg. Satalite server, Puppet, and able
to quickly get up to speed with new similar tools
• Has wide-ranging experience in area of specialization.
• Uses professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex
issues in creative and effective ways.
• Has complete understanding and wide application of technical principles,
theories, concepts and techniques.
• Has good general knowledge of other related disciplines.
• Applies strong analytical and business communication skills.
• May lead or supervise the work of others by providing direction to
subordinates or teams based on general policies and management guidance.

• Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an
in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
• Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation
