Skills needed: Microsoft Word, ability to identify between different types of copper cabling, ability to identify types of fiber optic cable, ability to document how cabling is terminated into patch panels and cabinets, understand inventory of servers, what ports plugged into on switch, need to validate actual hardware, serial numbers, UPSs and get ratings off of it to understand wattage, confirming equipment plugged into UPS, comfortable with taking photographs, (inventory: make, model, server connections), ability to identify equipment, how Cisco router port numbers are done.
